Raye Janice “Ikey” Harz Peter of Fredericksburg, Texas, was called to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Ikey was born March 2, 1932, in Boerne, Texas to Herbert and Edna Beseler Harz. Ikey graduated from Boerne High School in 1949 and worked at Camp Stanley Ammunition Depot for 15 years, where she perfected her meticulous record-keeping skills.
Ikey married Edward Anthony Peter of Fredericksburg on Jan. 14, 1966. The same day, she became an instant and beloved mother to his two children, Leisha Marie Peter and Hal Edward Peter.
Ikey and Eddie were members of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville and later joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church when they moved to Fredericksburg. Ikey was a gifted and talented artist. She was an excellent writer and loved researching genealogy. She was an avid bird watcher and nature lover. In their retirement years, they enjoyed many organized trips and adventures.
Ikey was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Maxine Meckel, Dorothy Sultenfuss and Emmie Kronkosky, and her husband, Edward. Ikey is survived by her children, Leisha Alexander (Jimmy) and Hal Peter (Marshell). Her grandchildren are Kristen Edwards (Judge), Lauren Adams (Scott), and Grant Peter. Her great-grandchildren, Jack and John Edwards, Abby, Waylon, and Wyatt Adams, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, followed by the funeral at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Graveside services and interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Judge, Kristen and Jack Edwards, Lauren and Scott Adams, and Grant Peter.
Donations can be made in Ikey’s name to St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or the charity of your choice.
