BOERNE — Boerne District 3 Councilman Quinten Scott announced his intention to step down from City Council during its regular meeting last week.
“I have been happy to serve, but those days are coming behind me,” Scott said. “I appreciate all the members of the council that I have gotten to serve with. Those that are here, those that have come and gone.”
The Boerne City Council is scheduled to formally accept Scott’s resignation at its July 22 meeting and declare the District 3 seat vacant.
Scott recently relocated to a home outside the city limits, prompting the resignation.
According to the City Charter, Scott may continue to serve until the vacancy is filled. The council will have 30 days from the date of the vacancy declaration to appoint a replacement.
Eligible candidates must have lived within District 3 for at least six months before appointment. Once the application period opens, interested residents can submit materials to the Boerne City Secretary’s Office at 447 N. Main St.
Scott said he is confident City Council will select a good replacement to serve District 3 and that he will serve the city diligently until his replacement is chosen.
Scott was first elected to represent District 3 during a special election in May 2019 and was reelected in 2020, 2022 and 2024.
