Oak Golf Course, led by Hall of Fame golfer Lanny Wadkins, and the addition of eight new pickleball courts and 10 tennis courts.

“We expect to open our clubhouse in early October,” said Cassidy Revis, director of member experience. “We are in the final stages of completion, just setting up furniture.”

Director of Racquet Sports Alex Ortega said the new pickleball courts were already busy, with the new courts bringing their total to 12 courts.

“We quadrupled the number of courts,” Ortega said. “We also moved the pickleball courts from up the hill to down here closer to the pools. It’s more of a social game and we wanted to make it a more social area.”

The pickleball and tennis courts have new LED lights, resurfaced courts, new netting, new amenities, new shade structures and rebuilt awnings and decks.

Sports Club Director Tonya Stromsness gave a tour of the fitness center, where treadmills are programmed with TechnoGym, a leading company for high-end gym equipment. The program offers a personalized experience by recording previous workouts.

“You can redo previous workouts that include the same incline and speed,” Stromsness said. “But it’s adjustable, you can go faster or slower if you prefer. The GPS on the app for your phone also traces the scenery of walks or jogs that you do.”

The treadmills also feature streaming platforms in case users want to watch a show or movie during their exercise.

Other new additions to the fitness center are the Rest and Recovery Room with infrared therapy, and a plunge spa and sauna.

After Hour Mixers such as the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club’s outing are held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, a “come and go” type event from 4-6 p.m., appealing to the afterwork crowd.

“You don’t have to be right on time,” said Steely Lott, Boerne’s Chamber of Commerce director of marketing and events. “If you get off at 5, you can still attend. Occasionally we have ‘Morning Mingles’ from 8:45-10 a.m., which is a brunch-style mixer.

“We have a really good crowd for After Hours, but sometimes people have to pick up their kids or have a family event, so we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to come out and mingle,” Lott said.

The event also has a raffle, usually held an hour into the event and is typically a prize the host of the event provides. For this event, the Golf and Country Club staff provided Tennis and Golf Visitor Certificates to the winners.
