James Wade is the youngest novelist to win two Spur awards, granted by the Western Writers of America. The Boerne Book Festival has been honored to feature the author each year since his first book, “All Things Left Wild,” was released.
This year, he’ll be on hand with his latest novel, “Narrow the Road,” at the “Obsessed with Texas” panel discussion sponsored by the Writers’ League of Texas.
This session will take place at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the library’s community room.
Another award-winning author scheduled on this panel is Andrew Porter, who teaches at Trinity University.
Porter’s latest novel, “The Imagined Life,” has received many accolades since its release in May of this year. Esquire Magazine selected it one of the best books of 2025.
The above novelists will be joined by Texas Monthly writer Hannah Smothers and Writers’ League of Texas Executive Director Evan Parks to round out the “Obsessed With Texas” panel discussion.
Scott Semegran will be featured later in the day with his new “novel in-stories” titled “Starman After Midnight.” Meet the author at the “Writing to Heal” panel discussion at 3:30 p.m.
Semegran’s previous novel, “The Codger and the Sparrow,” won The Discovery Prize for Fiction for 2024. The other writers on this panel are Cyra Dumitru, James R. Dennis, Lucy Griffith and Bianca Alyssa Pérez.
