Purloined pizza proceeds put a pair in prison after facing charges they held up a Domino’s with BB guns for drug money.
According to a news release this week, Kenneth Courtney Davis, 34, and Victoria Jan McDonald, 35, both of Boerne, were sentenced in the 451st state District Court for their roles in a December 2024 armed robbery at Domino’s Pizza, 1375 S. Main St., prosecutors said.
Davis pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, with a special finding for use of a deadly weapon. He received a 25-year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a $5,000 fine.
McDonald was found guilty of the same charge by a Kendall County jury and sentenced to 10 years behind bars.
In addition, evidence presented during sentencing linked a defendant to robberies in San Antonio, law officials said.
Kendall County assistant criminal district attorneys Alessandra Deike and Derly Chapa prosecuted the Boerne case.
According to court records, at 7:23 p.m. Dec. 29, 2024, Boerne police, Kendall County deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to reports of a holdup at the pizza store.
Witnesses said a man pointed a handgun at employees while a woman with pink-highlighted hair acted as a lookout near the door. The pair fled in a white Mitsubishi sport-utility vehicle with $120 in cash and rolled coins, the court heard.
After reviewing video evidence, Boerne Police Detective James Estrada recognized the suspects from a separate case he was investigating. Domino’s management informed officers similar suspects had robbed a San Antonio Domino’s days earlier.
Digital evidence introduced at the trial showed McDonald attempting to obtain money and narcotics earlier the day of the Boerne incident, but the attempts proved unsuccessful. Prosecutors said 30 minutes after the robbery, he sent messages about buying drugs.
Arrests followed after Estrada told officers to keep watch near a defendant’s home.
Within three hours, Boerne Police Officer Zachary Reed spotted the Mitsubishi approaching the Oxbow Apartments and stopped the car, taking both occupants into custody, prosecutors said.
A search of the SUV uncovered multiple BB guns resembling handguns, including one with a redtaped grip identical to the weapon used in the robbery; an all-black CO2 BB pistol; and a sawed-off BB shotgun matching the firearm seen in the San Antonio incident.
Officers also recovered rolled coin packages, Domino’s gift cards, 13.36 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the court was told.
Location data confirmed the pair traveled to San Antonio immediately after the robbery to purchase narcotics, police said.
During sentencing, jurors heard evidence linking the pair to two additional San Antonio armed robberies, prosecutors said.
McDonald is being looked at in a Dec. 21, 2024, robbery of Ross Dress for Less at La Cantera Parkway and a Dec. 22, 2024, robbery of a Domino’s on Perrin Beitel Road, according to law-enforcement officials.
