The Boerne High girls hoops squad opened district action Tuesday and drew a tough opponent in its 26-5A opener.
BHS was on the road to face No. 1 state ranked Wagner and fell to the Lady Thunderbirds, 60-43.
The Lady Greyhounds are 7-3 overall and start district at 0-1. They are entered in the Georgetown Tournament this weekend.
Wagner jumped out to a 20-10 lead in Tuesday’s game and then outscored the Boerne girls in the second 17-4 and took a 37-14 lead into halftime.
That second quarter really hurt the Hounds, and that was the difference in the game. Boerne played much better in the second half and outscored the T-Birds, 29-23, and won the third quarter, 14-10, and took the final stanza, 15-13.
Sutherlin Menn led BHS with 15 points, Addison Palluch added 11 points, Addison Saur and Hartlee Menn both scored 5, Melia Gonzalez had 3, while JT Hernandez and Emery Reyes both chipped in with 2 points apiece.
Saur and Hartlee Menn grabbed 6 rebounds each, while Sutherlin Menn and Gonzalez dished out 2 assists each.
