BOERNE — Patrick Heath Public Library has been honored with the 2025 Only 101 out of 516 public libraries across Texas were recognized this year, according to Library Director Natalie Shults, who said the distinction places the library among some of the biggest library systems in the Lone Star State.
“Truly, this award is a reflection of the incredible work our library staff does every day,” Shults said. “I am excited to see how we will continue to elevate our experiences in 2026 to ensure we provide meaningful and engaging resources for our patrons.”
The recognition comes at a time when the library is seeing record attendance at events and saving patrons millions every year.
The library averages welcomed more than 197,000 visitors in 2025 and offers nearly 650 programs every year. The library saved card members more than $2.9 million last year by providing access to library materials, databases and other valuable resources.
The award recognizes libraries that go above and beyond in 10 key areas, including community outreach, literacy support, workforce development and digital inclusion.
Boerne City Manager Ben Thatcher praised the library for its impact on the community.
“By consistently improving, the library is showing up in new and improved ways for residents and patrons,” Thatcher said. “Every day, I am proud of the services the staff and volunteers provide and this award highlights that dedication.”
