‘State of the District’ notes ‘A’ state rating, high graduation numbers
Boerne Independent School District officials during the “State of the District” event turned the spotlight Thursday on the newest digital effort to reach parents and the community.
Superintendent Kristin Craft during her review of BISD over the last 12 months introduced Constellations, an online magazine.
“The digital publication provides a glimpse into what we’re about, where we’re headed and why so many families have chosen Boerne and called it home for so many generations,” she said.
Constellations — https:// www. flipsnack. com/ championtheatre/ boerneisd-constellations_ spring-2025_v3 — contains stories submitted by each campus principal.

The narratives are “really capturing the Boerne Advantage through the voice and the eyes of our principals,” she added.
Also during the event, Craft noted several BISD accomplishments, including receiving a sixth straight “A” rating from the Texas Education Agency, a graduation rate of 99% and a college, career and military service rating of 95%, both well above the state and regional averages.
The district’s enrollment is 11,177. “I know every one of us has a teacher who made a difference in our lives,” Craft said. “Our teachers and our staff are making memories every day and really impacting our students.”
She also highlighted the maintenance staff’s efforts during recent freezes and last year’s first-ever rain-delayed graduation ceremony.
“Going above and beyond is just in our nature, and is not something I take for granted,” she said. Craft, the district’s first female superintendent, lauded the achievements of pupils.
“Our students, your children, rise to every challenge. Their performances on the field, the stage and in the classroom are remarkable,” Craft said, adding “and even in the pool” as she led the hundreds of luncheon attendees in a round of applause for the Champion High School swim team’s recent state 5A title in swimming. Craft, who was hired in December 2023, spoke about Pathways to Technical Early College High School, or PTECH, billed as a relatively new but innovative academic opportunity based in health sciences and cybersecurity.
The district’s eighth graders, already busy selecting their freshmen- year classes, flocked to the PTECH courses, Craft said.
“Twenty percent of our current eighth graders selected a PTECH pathway to being their freshman year, 197 selecting health sciences and 42 selected cybersecurity,” she said. “They are on a path to earn their associate degree before they even walk the stage for their high school graduation.”
Last year, BISD saw its first two students earn their associate degrees through PTECH.
“This year, we’re on track to see 31, and within a few short years, we should have 20% of a graduating class having their associate degrees. That is a phenomenal opportunity for all of our students,” the superintendent added.
The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Ford of Boerne to recognize BISD’s “Teachers of the Year” recipients from each school, and “Employees of the Year” among support staff and the district office. “Our students, your children, rise to every challenge.”
