For the first time in nearly two months, Kendall County residents can conduct burns on their property.
On Monday, Fire Marshal Brady Constantine announced the county’s burn ban — in place since an emergency order was issued Feb. 18 — temporarily would be lifted as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, April 7.
Recent rains and forecasts of stretches of precipitation in the next 10-14 days helped Constantine and the county’s volunteer fire department chiefs make the determination.
“This represents a prime opportunity for people to burn off what they may have accumulated, before we return to burn-ban status in the summer months,” Constantine said.
Fire and drought conditions will be closely monitored and evaluated, he added.
