The University of Texas softball program won back-to-back national championships and defeated Texas Tech both times. O’Connor graduate Leighann Goode just wrapped up her Longhorn career with two national titles and was the starting shortstop in 2025 and the starting second baseman in 2026. While at UT, Goode helped the Longhorns play for the national title three straight seasons. She is now playing professionally with the Texas Volts based in Austin. She is a friend of the Boerne Star and has been a guest twice on the Boerne Brew podcast hosted by the Boerne Star sports editor Kerry Barboza.
