The Boerne High JV and Varsity cheer teams attended the recent Universal Cheer Association (UCA) camp held in Austin on the University of Texas campus and earned many awards.

The varsity team picked up blue ribbons in Game Day and Camp Routine categories and was second place in Camp Routine. They also had 12 All American Cheerleader nominations and four of them earned the title of All American Cheerleader.

Those four include Macey Edge, who is a four-time All American, along with Lainie Moore, Madelyn Avalos and Anna Nichols.

Also, Boerne’s Lyla Lever and Mollie Edge also earned Pin-It-Forward awards for leadership, kindness, motivation, spirit and commitment.

On the JV level, the squad earned a red ribbon for Game Day, one gold ribbon for Camp Routine and finished third in Camp Routine category.

BHS cheer coach Kimberly Skok said it was a great experience for the team.

“UCA Master camps focus on game-day readiness. These camps are more difficult than traditional UCA camps,” Skok said. “Both the JV and Varsity squads worked extremely hard. I am so proud of their work ethic, determination and drive to better themselves as individuals and as a team.”
