Editor, We are five-year residents of our forever home here in Boerne. We are independent voters who for lack of a political home for Independents, have joined the open and welcoming local Democrats.
We have found this group to be well-informed teachers, nurses, physicians, social workers, business members, trade workers and humanitarians who care about our neighbors.
Sadly, as a minority in a Republican-dominated state, we often find ourselves incorrectly defined by the loud voices of a better-resourced party.
Kendall County Democrats clearly share many values of our Republican neighbors, or we would not be here. It would serve us all well to recognize that a one-party system ceases to be a democracy.
A news monopoly at any level, be it national or local, does not serve its citizens financially, intellectually, developmentally or politically.
We all have opinions as to who or what belongs on the front page, but all of us own today’s news whether we agree ideologically or not. Peace be with you.
