Boerne ISD Board tops in Region

20 SAN ANTONIO — The Boerne Independent School District board of trustees was named the Education Service Center Region 20 (ESC-20) 2026 School Board of the Year, recognizing the board’s leadership, commitment to students and dedication to serving the Boerne community. The honor advances Boerne ISD to represent Region 20 in the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) School Board Awards at the state level.

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible dedication our board of trustees has to every student, every staff member, and our entire Boerne community,” Superintendent Kristin Craft said. “Our trustees lead with humility, integrity and a genuine commitment to doing what is best for kids.

“They are thoughtful stewards of our district and tireless advocates for public education, and this honor is well deserved,” Craft added.

Board members are Carlin Friar, District 1; Dallas Pipes, District 2; Courtney Darter- Bruce, board president; Sarah Faulkenberry, District 4; Garrett Wilson, District 5; Kristi Schmidt, District 6; and Rich Sena, District 7.

The recognition celebrates a board that leads with vision, integrity, and a steadfast focus on student success.

Over the past several years, the Board has championed innovative learning opportunities, expanded Career and Technical Education and P-TECH pathways, strategically planned for the district’s continued growth, advocated for public education at the Capitol, and prioritized transparent communication and meaningful community engagement. Their leadership has helped Boerne ISD maintain academic excellence while preparing students for success beyond graduation.

The Board’s collaborative governance model emphasizes informed decision-making, responsible financial stewardship, continuous learning, and strong partnerships with staff, families, and community members. Through initiatives such as long-range planning, instructional investments, enhanced communications, and strategic facilities planning, the Board has remained focused on creating opportunities that will benefit students for generations to come. Boerne ISD extends its sincere appreciation to Education Service Center Region 20 for this recognition and congratulates the Board of Trustees on this outstanding achievement. The district looks forward to representing Region 20 in the statewide TASA School Board of the Year competition.
