Two Boerne High graduates were selected in the recent Major League Baseball draft held last weekend.
Both Camden Johnson and Rashawn Galloway were picked last Sunday and will have the opportunity to play professional baseball. Johnson and Galloway played for Bill Merrell while with the Greyhounds.

This isn’t the first time that two BHS players have been selected in the same draft. In 2022, Douglas Hodo was taken in the sixth round by the Baltimore Orioles after three years at the University of Texas, while Cole Phillips was taken that same year by the Atlanta Braves in the second round as a senior right out of high school.
Hodo was an outfielder, and Phillips was a pitcher for the Greyhounds, and both also played for Merrell.
Johnson, a 2023 BHS grad, went to the Kansas City Royals in the ninth round with the 269th pick last weekend.
Later in the draft, Galloway, a 2022 BHS grad, was selected in Round 16 with the 481st pick by the Houston Astros.
Johnson just finished his junior season by winning a national championship with the University of Oklahoma and was the starting third baseman after transferring in from Wichita State where he played shortstop for two seasons.
Johnson has the option to return to play for the Sooners for his senior season if he can’t reach an agreement with the Royals. He would prefer to play either shortstop or second base and wouldn’t mind playing in centerfield.
Galloway just wrapped up a fouryear career at Texas State and played several positions for the Bobcats, including catcher, designated hitter and outfield. He was a catcher for the Greyhounds and a starting quarterback for the football team for three seasons.
