Canales named All-American swimmer in five individual events and in three relays as well
Five Boerne Champion swimmers have been named National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-Americans based on times they turned in during the 2025-26 school year.
Only the top 100 high school swimmers in each event from around the country on the boys and girls side are named All-Americans regardless of which state they reside.
Champion’s five All-Americans for the 2025-26 school year are Kate Canales, Cora Skoog, Addison Graham and Karly Whitehead, while Will Harrison was the only swimmer on the boys side to earn the title.
The Champion girls repeated as 5A state champions during the past school year and all four swimmers on the girls side that were named All-Americans contributed to the two state titles.
Canales, a University of Florida commit, was named All-American in five individual events and was part of three relay teams that turned in All-American times.
Canales ’ time of 1:00.44 in the 100-yard breaststroke was the sixth best in the country in 2025-26 and set a new 5A state meet record last February. Her time of 53.94 in the 100-yard butterfly was tied for 39th best in the country, her time of 50:18 in the 100-yard freestyle was 43rd best in the nation, her time of 1:49.63 in the 200-yard freestyle is ranked 82nd and her time of 2:00.94 in the 200yard individual medley was 39th best in country.
Skoog, a Texas A&M signee, was named an All-American in the 100 freestyle. Her time of 50.61 tied for the 78th best time in the country.
Whitehead, who just completed her sophomore season, turned in a 55.10 in the 100-yard backstroke, which tied for the 69th best time in the nation last year.
Harrison, who signed with the University of Arizona, was named an All-American in the 50-yard freestyle. His time of 20.20 tied for the 32nd best time during the last school year.
Canales, Skoog, Whitehead and Graham were part of three relays that turned in All-American times.
The fantastic four clocked in at 1:43.08 in the 200-yard medley relay to set a new 5A state meet record and that time was the 30th best in the country during the last school year.
Canales, Skoog, Whitehead and sophomore Graham also set a new 5A state meet mark in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:27.19, which was 52nd on the list of top 100 times nationally last year.
The four were also involved in the 200-freestyle relay and clocked in at 1:36.33 at the TISCA Corpus Christi meet and that ended up being the 92nd best time last year.
