Boerne Little League falls in opener at Southwest Region tournament

The Boerne Little League team came up short in its opener Thursday at the Southwest Region tourney in Waco.

Boerne, the Texas West champions, fell to Texas East, 10-3, despite outhitting their opponents 7-5.

They play Saturday and need to win to stay alive in the double-elimination event. In fact, they have to win Saturday, Sunday and Monday to make it to the championship game.

The winner of the tourney advances to the Little League World Series set for later this month in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Tough game but good thing it’s double elimination. Get another game this weekend to stay alive!! Pitching has struggled the entire tournament series, averaging 50-55% strike percentage. Today had 9 walks. Anything more than 3 walks in a game puts a lot of pressure on our offense, and since we’ve only averaged 6 hits per game, that puts us between a rock and a hard place.
