Boerne ISD athletes compete at Texas Relays

Boerne ISD sent several track and field athletes to compete at this year’s Texas Relays inAustin against the best in the state.

Champion’s Elizabeth Leachman set a new national high school record in the outdoor 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:25.27 and competed in a field of entirely college athletes.

Also, for Champion, Madison Meinke ran in the 100 and Erin Martin competed in the javelin, while on the boys side, Jamarri Bowie raced in the 100, Hayden Brace competed in the triple jump and Nico Lopez threw the javelin.

For Boerne High, Kendall Lemm finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5-8, while the Boerne boys 4x100 relay, consisting of Charlie Stahl, Michael Igbo, William Freeman and Woody Goen, ran at the Texas Relays and made finals where they finished 6th.

Both Chargers and Greyhounds were at their district meets this week and the BHS boys won district for the first time since 2008. For more on district, see the Boerne Star.
