The Geneva softball team played two games towards the end of last week and dropped both of them at home to stand at 2-12 this year.
Geneva lost to Holy Cross and FEAST. They play at Corpus Christi John Paul II on Friday, 4:30 p.m., and visit Schertz John Paul II Monday, 5 p.m.
Vs. Holy Cross
Holy Cross won in six innings, 13-3.
Geneva held the early lead and scratched for a run in the bottom of the second but the Knights answered with 4 in the top of the third and 2 more in the top of the fourth for the 6-1 lead.
The Eagles plated a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-2 but Holy Cross came up with another run in the top of the fifth and 6 more in the top of the sixth to open up a 13-2 advantage.
Geneva had to score more than one run in the bottom of the sixth to take it to the seventh but only managed to push in a run and that’s where it ended at 13-3.
Holy Cross had 12 hits and Geneva had 8 of them.
Kate Friesenhahn was 2 for 3 at the plate, Maegan Riebel hit a home run in the fourth and a double in the sixth, while Maggie Chisholm went 2 for 3.
Vs. FEAST
Geneva and FEAST both knocked out 10 hits but FEAST won the game, 16-5, in five innings.
Just like in the Holy Cross game, Geneva was leading early but couldn’t maintain the lead.
The Eagles were up 3-1 after one but FEAST fired back with 4 in the second and 6 in the third for the 11-3 lead.
Geneva tried to fight back and answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the third to make it 11-5 but FEAST pulled away with 5 more runs in the fourth to open up the 16-5 advantage.
The Eagles had to score a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth but were kept off the board.
Reese Smith went 2 for 3 with a double, while Madeline Egbert and Maegan Riebel both finished 2 for 3 at the plate, while Lily Flora was 2 for 2 and picked up 3 RBI.
