Crestmont Christian hoops teams hit the hardwood

The Crestmont Christian boys and girls basketball teams were recently on the hardwood and played two games each and both split the two.

Up next, the Lady Warriors played at McCauley Christian Academy and the Warriors boys traveled to Atonement Catholic Academy on Friday.

Vs. Founders Classical Academy-Schertz Crestmont Christian Prep played host to Founders Classical Academy-Schertz on Nov. 12. It was a difficult night for the Warriors against the older and more experienced, high-powered Hoplites.

It was tough going for the Lady Warriors, who didn’t get on the scoreboard until the beginning of the second half and lost, 32-5.

Freshman Savannah Head scored 4 of the Warriors 5 points.

FCA was too much for Crestmont’s boys team also, winning the game, 56-26.

Freshman Colten Riebel led the Warriors with team highs of 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Vs. Great Hearts Western Hills

Traveling to Great Hearts Western Hills, Crestmont was looking to shake off the tough losses and add to the win column.

The Lady Warriors played a tense and tight game against the Spartans, with the lead never being more than 2 points at any point in the game.

Crestmont led 13-12 until midway through the fourth quarter when the Spartans scored 2, going up 14-13.

With less than two minutes to go, Paige Hubbard scored the game-winning shot, putting the Lady Warriors up 15-14 for good.

Hubbard controlled the game from the start, scoring 13 points, and Savannah Head nabbed 13 rebounds for the Lady Warriors.

Closing the night out with a win as well, Crestmont’s boys defeated a physical and aggressive Spartan team.

The Warriors never trailed and closed out the Spartans, 50-42.

Freshman Peyton Blyth shot 62 percent from the field, scoring 19 points and also recorded 6 assists and 3 steals.

Freshman Luke Oliver logged his second double-double of the season, scoring 15 points on 64 percent shooting and pulled down 14 boards.

Freshmen Colten Riebel added 12 rebounds and Sawyer Svendsen sank 8 points for the Warriors.
