The scene at The Woodland Apartments on Medical Drive where shots were reported fired ended Monday afternoon after city officials confirmed the subject killed himself in a third-floor apartment behind the front management office.

About 20 police vehicles, including state troopers, lined the cul-de-sac entrance to the apartment complex after a call came in for shots fired at about 1:45 p.m. City officials confirmed there was more to the incident than the self-inflicted fatality.

“There’s more to it than that,” Boerne Communications Director Chris Shadrock said when asked if anything happened prior to the self-inflicted fatality, noting more information will be shared at a later time.

The scene was cleared by about 3:45 p.m. after a tactical team entered the apartment and found the subject deceased, Shadrock said. No other injuries were reported.

Additional details will be posted when they become available.

The Star's Tuesday paper had just gone to press when the incident was reported.
