The Boerne boys celebrate after winning its second straight 4A soccer state title.
The Boerne Greyhounds boys soccer team completed another historic season on Friday as they defeated Celina 2-1 in overtime to win their second-straight UIL Class 4-A State Championship.
Jess Gonzalez scored the championship-clinching goal on a penalty kick in overtime for the Greyhounds, who finished with a 27-2-1 record. Landon Murphy tied the game for Boerne with a goal late in the first half. Goalkeeper Noah LeMaster had five saves to help lead the Greyhounds to their third state soccer title in school history (2006, 2021, 2022). Boerne outshot Celina 11-7.
Boerne finished the season with a 27-match unbeaten streak going 26-0-1 down the stretch, including going 6-0 in the postseason.
