The Greyhound baseball team picked up a non-district game on Wednesday and fell to San Marcos, 5-2.
Boerne is 15-10 overall and resumes district play Tuesday with a series against Pieper. They visit the Warriors on Tuesday and host them on Friday.
BHS is 7-4 in district and has five 26-5A games remaining on the schedule as they fight for a playoff spot.
The Hounds were leading Wednesday’s contest 2-1 by the third inning, but the Rattlers scored 4 runs in the sixth frame and that was the difference. BHS didn’t score in the last four innings despite outhitting San Marcos, 7-4.
Jackson Grimes knocked out 2 singles, while Colton Shaver, Ronnie Scarbrough, Asher Wren and Eli Srp all singled, and Jake Perez smacked a double to account for their 7 hits.
Otis Skubal and Shaver scored one run each, while Perez and Scarbrough brought in one run apiece.
It was pitcher by committee after the Greyhounds used four different arms, with no one going for more than 3 innings.
Wren went the longest at 3 frames and gave up a hit and run, walked 2 and struck out 3. Kepa Kanae tossed 2 innings, Caden Guerrero pitched, while Vinnie Tarantino threw an inning and yielded 3 hits and 2 runs.
