FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL SCORES (9-18-26)

All four Kendall County 11-man football teams were in action Friday night and the two Boerne ISD schools picked up wins, while Geneva School of Boerne were on the road and lost.

Boerne High

The Greyhounds were the only team at home and stayed undefeated with a 42-21 victory over Somerset after Boerne quarterback Grant Sweeney tossed six touchdown passes.

BHS (4-0) closed out non-district action and visits Alamo Heights Friday to open league play.

Boerne had several explosive plays in the game, including a 99-yard TD pass from Sweeney to Zach Freasier.

Boerne Champion

For the fourth game in a row, Champion's contest was basically over by halftime. The Chargers played Kyle Lehman and were leading 48-0 at halftime before cruising to the 59-3 victory.

Things will get much tougher for the Chargers (4-0, 2-0) this coming Friday when they host Austin Anderson (3-0, 1-0), which won its district opener against Lockhart, 49-7.

Geneva School of Boerne

Brazos Christian found a way to slow down the high-octane Geneva offense on Friday to open district play.

The Eagles had been scoring 49 points a game but it was the Brazos Christian team that tallied 49 points as they defeated the Eagles, 49-23.

Geneva (4-1, 0-1) will look for its first district win Friday at home against Corpus Christi John Paul II for Senior Night.

Comfort High

The Bobcats were on the road at Johnson City and fell to the Eagles 35-14 to close out non-district action.

Johnson City was up 35-0 but Comfort hit a couple of long pass plays in the final quarter to get on the board.

Comfort (1-3) gets a much needed off week before opening league play Oct. 2 at home against Poth.
