Geneva School of Boerne and Comfort High were both on the road on Friday and dropped their football contests.

Geneva had been hot entering Friday’s district opener Friday at Brazos Christian and was scoring 49 points a game, but the Eagles of Brazos Christian found a way to slow down the Eagles of Geneva Friday in Bryan.
Brazos Christian handed the Eagles their first loss of the season after they defeated Geneva, 49-23.
It was 7-3 at the end of one quarter but Brazos Christian shutout the Eagles in the second quarter 14-0 and took a 21-3 lead into halftime.
Once the second half started, Brazos Christian was consistent and tallied two touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters for 28 more points, while Geneva scored 8 in the third and 12 in the second.
It’s Geneva’s first loss of the year and leaves them at 4-1 (0-1), while Brazos Christian improves to 3-1 (1-0).
The Eagles from Boerne will be back at it Friday when they host Corpus Christi John Paul II for Senior Night.
Comfort High
The Bobcats were on the road at Johnson City on Friday and struggled against the Eagles.
Comfort fell behind 35-0 by the end of the third quarter but finished strong and tallied the final two touchdowns of the contest to give Johnson City the 35-14 win.
Cole Young hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Omar Rivera early in the fourth quarter to get Comfort on the board. Later in the stanza, Young and Rivera connected again, this time on a 93-yard pass and catch with 3:25 remaining to complete the scoring.
A much-needed bye week is on the schedule for the banged-up Bobcats this coming Friday as they close out non-district play at 1-3.
Comfort won't play again until they open district action on Oct. 2 by hosting Poth at Bobcat Stadium, 7 p.m.
