BOERNE — Some Boerne Utilities customers can expect to see crews trimming trees near power lines in their neighborhoods, as the tree-trimming effort began Monday.

Crews will work each day over a four-week stretch, weather permitting, to ensure tree limbs stay a safe distance from power lines.

The contractor doing the work, McCoy Tree Surgery, will notify customers at properties where crews will need to enter to access trees along the electric lines.

The following streets in the neighborhoods listed below are targeted for this round of city tree-trimming.

• BENTWOOD: Bentwood Drive, Deer Creek, Greyhound Lane, Deer Hollow Drive, Glade Drive, Terrace Drive and Vista Verde Drive.

• CIBOLO CROSSING: Cibolo Crossing Drive, Cibolo Branch Drive, Cibolo Crest, Cibolo Basin Drive, Cibolo Bridge Drive and Johns Road.

• MOSS ROSE: Moss Rose Street, Rosewood Avenue, Ivy Lane, South Esser Road, Rosebud Street and Azalea Trail.

Notification tags will be placed on front doors about one week before work begins in each area. Crews will also knock on doors and speak with customers on the day work is performed at their property.

Managing trees and other vegetation near energized power lines maintains public safety and prevents damage to electrical infrastructure.

It also improves reliability by preventing common outage causes and provides safe access for crews to restore power quicker when there is an outage.
