For many years now, the Hill Country Council for the Arts has enjoyed an evolving relationship with the Boerne Independent School District.
It began with our furnishing judges for the annual BISD Spring Shows exhibited at the Patrick Heath Public Library and has grown to our hosting a BISD Fine Arts Student booth, first at Boerne Art Waddle, and most recently at Hill Country Art and Wine Festival.
Opportunities for students to engage with our community at these events complement a professional development mentorship program where board members provide the “business of art” training to participating students.
In keeping with gaining momentum in these efforts, Hill Country Council for the Arts is happy to announce Dawn Adamek as a new addition to our board of directors.
In her current capacity, Adamek is the BISD Fine Arts Coordinator, managing diverse programs, fostering collaboration among faculty and advocating for the vital role of the arts within the school community.
Additionally, she serves as the district facilitator for the Boerne Outdoor Academy program, promoting a collaborative environment among educators and directors to enhance this experience-based learning environment for students and the community.
Adamek is a dedicated educational leader with two decades of experience cultivating a passion for the fine arts in students of all ages. Her extensive background includes 20 years in elementary music education, as well as serving as a high school and middle school choir and band director.
She has held administrative roles as an assistant principal at Champion High School and Currington Elementary School, where she supervised instruction, guided curriculum, coordinated activities and managed state competition and testing.
In her new role as an HCCA director, Adamek will work directly with HCCArts Education Director Kelly Leith, creating new opportunities for continuing professional development for BISD fine arts teaching staff, and students alike.
