The Boerne High softball team had its best offensive outing of the year after they recorded 20 hits and scored 25 runs against Hondo on its way to a 25-10 victory last Friday.

BHS is 11-11-1 overall and closed out the non-district portion of its schedule. The Lady Greyhounds open district play Friday at home against Bandera, 1 p.m.

Boerne never trailed in Friday’s game at Hondo and jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame thanks to a Taylor Wilson home run.

Hondo answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and it was 2-1 but that’s as close as the Owls came to catching the Lady Hounds.

Boerne plated 6 runs in the third, followed by 3 runs in the fourth and fifth frames.

BHS held a 14-10 lead after five frames and then scored 5 runs in the top of the sixth for the 19-10 advantage.

Hondo batted in the bottom of the sixth and didn’t score but since the lead wasn’t at 10 runs it went to the seventh frame where the Lady Hounds added 6 more runs to open up the 25-10 lead.

Hondo still had to bat in the bottom of the seventh since they were the home team.

Taylor Wilson had a strong game at the plate and hit a double to go with her homer, added 2 singles, drove in 7 runs and scored 3 times.

Ava Renteria recorded an inside-the-park home run to go with 3 singles, 1 RBI and scored 2 runs. Breanna Krause doubled and hit 3 singles, collected 4 RBI and scored a run, while Riley Partin singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs.
