Four Geneva seniors earn Merit recognition

BOERNE — Four Geneva School of Boerne seniors earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Will Crews was named National Merit Semifinalist while Micah Briggs, Luke Brunsvold and Sofi Treviño were named National Merit Commended Scholars.

These students achieved these awards for their academic accomplishments on the 2023 Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Crews is the son of Jonathan and Lindsey Crews; Briggs is the son of Jenny and Ben Briggs; Brunsvold is the son of Jennifer and Paul Brunsvold; and Treviño is the daughter of Valeri and Javier Treviño.

The four are members of the 2025 senior class, which will be the 15th class to graduate from Geneva. This is also the 15th consecutive Senior Class at Geneva to have members earning National Merit recognition.

“We applaud the work of National Merit Scholarship Corp. in recognizing exceptionally talented students and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence at all levels,” said Matt Donnowitz, Geneva Rhetoric School headmaster. “We are thankful to have a rich history of National Merit scholars at Geneva and celebrate their academic accomplishments which put them among the top ranked students in the nation.”

Over 1.3 million students in about 21,000 high schools took the PSAT in October 2023 and entered the National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for the recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

Nationally, 16,000 students were named Semifinalists and 34,000 were named Commended Students.
