Boerne ISD held its annual summer baseball camp at Champion High School and 120 young men showed up at this year’s event to improve their baseball skills.

Comfort ISD recently held its annual football camp and close to 50 young men showed up to work on their football skills.

Boerne resident and TMI sophomore Carson Clark recorded an ace on the 11th hole at Tapatio Springs. Clark used a pitching iron from the white tees that measured 129 yards that day. The event was witnessed by friends Colton Shaver and Daniel Fernandez. Clark, 16, has been playing golf for about a year.

There aren’t too many waves to catch in and around Boerne but that hasn’t stopped a Boerne native from winning a world surfing title.

Recent Boerne High School graduate Rashawn Galloway was named to this year’s all-state baseball team by the Texas Sports Writers Association.

Fall sports got underway at local high schools on Monday as student athletes and coaches began preparations for the upcoming seasons. At Champion, there is a new sport this year as water polo kicked off its inaugural campaign with practice at the Boerne city pool. The Chargers will field both a boys and girls team under the direction of coach Alberto Escalante.

Boerne ISD held its annual summer volleyball camp at Champion High School and about 200 young ladies showed up at this year’s event to work on their volleyball skills.

The Tapatio Springs Men’s Golf Association held its monthly event on Saturday, July 23. The membership played a 2-man computer pick blind draw Best Ball.

Lauren Summers of the Boerne H2O swim team placed first in state at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation games in Corpus Christi last weekend. 

The Boerne Star is making some exciting changes to the newspaper starting in mid-August, and it will directly affect the paper’s sports coverage.

Cole Phillips has been signed, sealed and delivered to the Atlanta Braves after they selected him with the 57th pick in the second round of this year’s Major League Baseball draft on July 17.

Douglas Hodo flew to Baltimore last weekend and inked his deal with the Orioles, the team that selected him on July 18 in this year’s Major League Baseball Draft.
