1,000 books
1,000 books
Boerne’s Travis Shipman recently achieved the milestone of reading 1,000 books as part of the Patrick Heath Public Library’s Youth Department 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. The nationwide program encourages parents to make reading a consistent part of their young children’s lives in an effort to promote literacy and parent-child bonding through reading. Shipman joined several other Boerne youngsters who have their names on the wall of the youth department as having achieved the goal. Shipman chose to receive the book “Just Saving My Money” by Mercer Mayer as his 1,000th book reward. Information from the family stated the 3-year-old’s favorite things to read about are construction vehicles, dinosaurs and airplanes. Submitted photo 02/01/2022 12:00 AM
