AUSTIN – Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) secured $984 million in annual funding to support private hospitals throughout the state.

There is a very interesting parallel existing in our world today with a spiritual condition that exists with those of us who call ourselves Christians. Some of you may not like my description of the first half of the parallel but I trust you will give it the benefit of an open mind.

Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries received a charitable grant of $25,000 from the Valero Benefit for Children this year, thanks to the Valero Texas Open golf tournament and associated events.

Let me clarify my title — I don’t mean do you wear a badge, carry a gun and wear a white hat. When it comes to how you perceive your Christian life, your avocation is more important than your occupation. The dictionary defines avocation as something that a person does besides his regular business.
