Joshua Creek Ranch is a 2026 Orvis endorsed “Wingshooting Lodge of the Year,” the outdoor sporting goods company announced.
This marks the ranch’s second win in the program, following a previous award in 2018, and continues a history of recognition as a finalist in 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021, employees said.
“We are humbled and proud to receive this prestigious recognition from Orvis,” said Kevin Welborn, managing director at Joshua Creek Ranch. “This award reflects the dedication of our owners, guides and staff, our ongoing conservation and community-support efforts, and the extraordinary feedback from the guests who visit us.” he ranch is a family- owned and operated luxury wingshooting lodge and sporting resort open in the Boerne area since 1990.
An outdoor sports directory defines wingshooting “as the art and technique of shooting at birds in flight or flying clay targets, focusing on instinct, proper gun fit and fluid motion rather than just aiming.”
The Orvis Endorsed program evaluates excellence in guest experience, facilities and operations, and conservation practices. There are 30 Orvis Endorsed Wingshooting Lodges worldwide.
The lodges are selected based on hunting quality, service and dining, according to a release.
Each year, three lodges are celebrated as finalists.
Winners this year for wingshooting and fly-fishing lodges, guides and outfitters were announced at the Endorsed Partners Awards Banquet in Denver on April 2.
“After 36 years of successful operation, we remain committed to delivering an exceptional end-to-end wingshooting lodge experience in the beautiful Texas Hill Country,” Welborn added.
In 1856, Charles F. Orvis founded the Orvis Co. in Manchester, Vermont, offering fly fishing equipment. Today the company caters to anglers and wingshooting enthusiasts, as well as offering men’s and women’s sportswear, gifts, home furnishings, luggage, travel accessories and dog products.
