The course is set and vendors are ready to participate in Saturday’s ninth annual Boerne Pride Walk on Main Street.
Hundreds will gather around the Patrick Heath Public Library amphitheater, 451 N. Main St., starting at 9 a.m. June 13 to welcome one another and share resources and support, according to Anna Boyer-Chadwick, executive director of the sponsoring organization, Boerne Pride.
“We focus the event as more of a family event. The walk is about families being together, welcoming each other and showing support,” Boyer-Chadwick said. “It’s about supporting our LBGTQ community; it helps them feel welcome and be seen.” After the 9 a.m. opening, a short 10 a.m. program precedes the walk, estimated for a 10:15 a.m. start.
The walk will cross North Main Street across from the library, between City Hall and Jefferson Bank, in front of the Boerne Visitors Center.
The route follows Main Street to River Road, where it crosses the street and proceeds back to the library.
“We’ve really focused on the community and trying to get them involved,” including some giveaways from invited vendors, Boyer- Chadwickk said.
Community organizations and participants this year include Apollo Wellness, Binders for Brothers, Boerne Area Democrats/ Kendall County Democrats, Caricatures by Audrey, Citibank, Equality Texas, Fiesta Youth, Free Mom Hugs, Human Rights Campaign, League of Women Voters, PFLAG Boerne, Planned Parenthood, San Antonio Gender Association, Texas Wears Condoms, Thrive Youth Center, author Toni Draper, Touchstone Community Church and Adriann Wolfe.
