HISTORICAL COMMISSION TRAVELS TO PRESIDIO DE SAN SABA

TO PRESIDIO DE SAN SABA

A group of history lovers took a trip to Menard, Texas, Saturday morning to learn the violent history of Spain’s failed foray into expanding its Texas control. In the small town, nestled in a county with a population of 2,000, is the once-lost site of Mission Santa Cruz de San Sabá and its corresponding military presidio. The guided tour organized by the Kendall County Historical Commission brought the man who discovered the mission’s true location, Mark Wolf, and the president of the Presidio de San Sabá Restoration Corporation, Terry Kelly.
