Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) has been discovered in a deer breeding facility in Gillespie County. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) are collaboratively working to determine the source and extent of the first positive detection of the disease in this county.

Emmie Joann Kronkosky
Emmie Kronkosky, age 87, passed away peacefully in Houston on Oct. 5, 2022 after a brief illness. Emmie (Emma) Joann Harz was born on Jan. 17, 1935 in Boerne, Texas, to Herbert and Edna Harz. She grew up in this small German heritage town in the Hill Country. She is a fifth generation of Boerne and is the youngest of four children, including Maxine Selma Meckel, Dorothy Lee Sueltenfuss, and Raye Janice Peter.
